Visit to the South China Coast with Qing....(part 4) Bananas and Botany

Bananas
are a huge industry for the islands of the
Gulf of Tonkin and the South China Sea.

Typical  BANANA  Grove
Transporting recently-picked bananas

We were told that the blue bags cause the Greenhouse Effect within, enabling the bananas to ripen faster and more evenly.  The blue, plastic bags also serve to keep the developing bananas free from dust, dirt, and debris.

We have noticed these same blue bags in Jamaica, Africa, Peru, and other tropical, banana-growing countries.

Very cool, old, banana truck, used to transport bananas to the dock

There were lots of these tractor-trucks, puttering around on the island.

There were other fruits on the islands, as well.....and FRIENDLY  people!

Chris and Qing,
enjoying their coconuts:

We visited a
Botanical Garden, located on the bigger island of Hainan.

Melody, learning about coconuts

Sometimes, the signs along trails  in China don't make any sense at all......
