We ended up serving FOUR different schools, keeping quite busy. Many students are wonderfully talented.

Throughout the school-year, there were many music, dance, poetry, speech, and exercise-routine competitions. Here, Apple is getting ready for her class's presentation. (She's a very special girl, who writes poetry in both Chinese and English.)
Several of our students play traditional Chinese musical instruments....well!
|
Student leaders (called "monitors") are well-respected. |
|
Throughout the year, we remained popular for photographs! "The foreign teachers!" |
|
Students are taught to be patriotic.....here, with the Red Communist Party armbands. |
|
This sweet girl, "Moon", came to visit us in our apartment more than any other student. |

Students choose their English names from movies, performers, or books. Sometimes, former English teachers have given them their English names. We named a few......"Veronica" being most popular.
Chinese students are concerned with the meaning of names.
Creating stories from English story-cards was a big hit......one of our most successful lessons.
Here is Michael. Great kid! Michael and Jason went to lunch with us (off campus) many-a-time.
|
These are our "Singapore Kids!!!" They are the top-of-the-top, academically. Cade wants to be a marine-materials engineer; Bella, a bioengineer, working on artificial limbs and organs; Richard, a medical doctor. We tutored them, with regard to doing well on university interviews.
They ALL were selected for 10-year programs at a university in Singapore! |

These are some of our Sunday-morning-class students. |
|
Often, the English teachers were young and enthusiastic.
One of our favorites was Beverly, who attended our classes EVERY week,
so that she could learn all she could about American teaching methods. |
