National Holiday Car Trip (part 2)

One incredible highlight of the trip for O Ping (Paula) was getting to "help" harvest rice in a farmer's field, along-side the road.  Wow!  Made my day!!

Typical lunch item, with the propane burner built right into the table.
Farmstead, with corn kernels spread out to dry.

Farm Machinery

Another way to dry the corn........
Four nights out of the five, we arrived at our destination long, long, long after dark, often having struggled around on the back-roads or through the smaller towns.  Sometimes lost.
This is an example of the kinds of  concrete chunks that were just piled in the middle of the road, WITHOUT ANY WARNING!  ....Or, there would be a trench or drop-off, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, just appear in the head-lights as we drove along.
Also, most of China's drivers are very inexperienced, as having cars is a new phenomenon here.  SCARY!!

"Propaganda Lanterns", all along the way, urging families to obey the rules and have only one child...

Beautiful Scenery, with terraced farms.....(though always hazy here.)

Cool Art
This pretty mountain creek reminded us of Moulton Falls, back home.....
Hooray for guys with mustaches and beards!

These were some of the views we had, from the local hotels in which we slept, along the road trip:
This scene was hard for O Fei (Chris) to take, as these were obviously long-distance motorcyclists!

These were some of the Breakfasts we had, along the road trip:

And.....cooked, cold, spicy, slimy CHICKEN FEET  were one of the most popular snacks of all, for our group!   Yummm!
